Lawrence police expand mental health crisis training progress
After three years of effort the Lawrence police department has 79 percent of its roughly 150 officers trained in mental health crisis intervention. An additional 14 officers completed the 40 hour course this week, with turnover and new hires delaying full 100 percent coverage despite ongoing commitment to train all officers.
