Beams Arrive For Eudora Span Construction
The first two flat car loads of uniquely built steel beams for the Eudora Kaw River bridge have been unloaded at Linwood. County engineer Casey Rice said the beams should cover at least one span and will be moved to the site once a second load arrives. The longest beam is 94.6 feet and a special hauling setup is required. The bridge is expected to be finished by next spring per Douglas County Commission chairman Harvey Booth.

Indonesians Land In Malaysia But Success Limited
About 60 Indonesian guerrillas landed by sea on Malaysia's southwest coast in two groups. By nightfall nearly half were captured while others were pinned down in swampy jungle 30 miles south of Malacca as Australian New Zealand and Malaysian troops pressed a holding action and planned mop up at daybreak. Prime Minister Abdul Rahman said five boatloads landed before dawn and Home Minister Ismail Bin Abdul Rahman warned the situation was being controlled with expected success.
