Capt E A Lofquist chief of staff of the ninth naval district will deliver the principal address at the graduation of machinists mates in the naval training school at the University stadium Saturday afternoon. A New Jersey native, he graduated from the Naval Academy in 1907 after a world voyage on the Connecticut and service on the California and Delaware. He helped establish the San Diego training station during World War I and served on ships including the Great Northern and the West Virginia before later commanding the Dobbin and serving at the Naval War College. He then led the ninth district staff at Great Lakes before commanding the Oklahoma and returning to Great Lakes in succession.
