Community Wood Yard Weather Indicator Fails
The community wood yard in the 800 block on Vermont Street under J. E. Frye has not proven a reliable weather indicator. Warm weather reduced interest in chopping but a wintry snap yielded only a few helpers. Three loads of wood were moved yesterday and two more this morning, while city trucks bring in more trimmings. Transients chopped briefly for meals, with wood stacked to await Lawrence families unable to cut their own.
