Ancient Templars social at Lawrence hall reception

Lawrence Lodge No 1 Ancient Templars held the first public reception at their hall over Leis drug store. The event featured prayers, songs by a small choir, readings, guitar solos, poems, and social hour. Members claimed over 100 in the local order and a drive to attend a November meeting on the court house drive well issue.

Tramp Gored to Death by Bull in Straw Stack

A Columbus dispatch says a tramp was fatally gored today by a bull while sleeping in a straw stack near Cincinnati. The incident was reported by a Cincinnati Gazette special.

Troops for Central Asia and Other 1900s Notices

Intelligence from St. Petersburg reports a 40 000 strong division ordered from cantonments to central Asia with several general staff officers also reassigned. In Cincinnati a 20 year old, Wm A Meat, was fatally shot after a sidewalk assault on a saloon. J Geller and his employer were arrested. Kansas City notes Mr P B Groat, Kansas Pacific agent, will travel to Europe to promote emigration to Kansas and Colorado and encourage travel to China Japan and the West Indies via the United States.

Inter Ocean reports a Pathfinder balloon seen over Chicago at 10:30 a m and again at 5 p m with a dark object in the car a sighting described as high altitude and later lower altitude in the east. Memphis records Camp Father Matthew broken up with procession to St Bridget's Church and a benediction. St Louis notes the fifth annual convention of the Women's National Christian Temperance Union at First Baptist Church with plans for three daily sessions and 200 delegates from outside Illinois expected to attend.

A line of steamers is planned to connect China with the Sandwich Islands and another route between the Islands and San Francisco.
