Lawrence hires long-range planner to lead city department
The Lawrence Planning Department will expand to a full staff in November with Deanne Vieux of Kingston Rhode Island named long-range planner to replace Martha Soler-Manczek who resigned in June. Vieux holds a 1968 Kansas State University anthropology degree and URI planning master's. She previously worked in Dade County Florida housing studies and on regional plans in southern Tunisia with the Peace Corps. The appointment followed calls by the Lawrence League of Women Voters and Commissioner Marnie Arger singer for a qualified replacement.

Loyal KU fans honored in Homecoming photo trio
The Journal-World presents three steadfast KU supporters in the Homecoming shot. Annabel Pringle of Topeka and her twin nieces Mary Alice Morozzo and Maxine Parzybok of Wichita are pictured, all KU alumni. Pringle, a 1923 KU graduate and life member, helped guide bright students to KU and a scholarship in her name was set up in 1963. Morozzo’s daughter Deann is Baby Jayhawk, with many family members at KU.
