President Roosevelt to issue proclamation admitting Oklahoma on Saturday November 16. A delegation from Oklahoma presented the constitution to the President at 11 o clock this morning. Governor Frantz led the ceremony and city officials noted the event at mass meetings.
A lost locket with an elk head raised design contains pictures of a boy and dog. It was lost Sunday October 27 near the 1000 block Ky. St. and P. QO. Return to Journal office for reward. Also listed are ads for gas stoves, a horse and buggy, and a subscription-recruitment opportunity.
Dr Biederwolf preached to a crowded tent in a Sunday service and evening session. He warned that neglect of spiritual gifts leads to moral decline, illustrated by the Jekyll and Hyde tale and Virginia strawberry renaturalization. He urged readers to seek conversion before judgment and to avoid worldly indulgence.
Oklahoma City October 28 Governor Frantz ordered a week long bank closure in the territory at banker request after Kansas City and St Louis banks refused to forward cash. Telegraphs and consultations among bankers in Oklahoma Indian Territory Arkansas and Northern Texas were reported with many taking similar action. Deposits in Oklahoma reportedly exceeded prior weeks as banks faced cash shortages and risk from the cash squeeze.
The Bankers Trust Company of Kansas City Missouri with deposits around $800 000 closed its doors at 10 13 am after the local clearing house refused to extend the privilege of issuing clearing house certificates. President James Downing said no run occurred and assets were ample. Clearing House restricted currency payments and told correspondents to follow suit, with Savings banks and Trust companies adopting similar actions to suspend emergency payments temporarily.
In society notes Mrs Henry Martin led the Motiel Card club gathering this afternoon. Mrs Nerbert Armstrong of Topeka visits her parents Mr and Mrs J N Roberts for a few days. Mrs W M Bangs arrived from Kansas City to celebrate sister Min Tisdale's birthday. Edna Goldstant returns to Kansas City tonight after visiting Adele Marks on Law street. W Barteldes held a Saturday smoker at the Merchants Athletic club for friends. Mrs Edgar Frasier and daughter Margaret return from Town after a three month visit. Prof Frasier met them in Kansas City.
Miss Edith Snow and Mr Frank Snow hosted a Saturday gathering at their La street home with Pi Beta Phi and Beta Theta Pi guests. The Old and New club met on Ohio street with Prof Sayre, fourteen members, and a chafing dish supper. Y M C A boys hosted a dinner at the Y M C A building with fifty four covers and toastmaster W F March, planning Boys' club first meeting November 3. Prof A B Olin hosted the Saturday Night club with a five course dinner on La street, autumn decor, and a paper on Herbert A Staucke.

He seeks a longer flight to set a new record, aided by seasonal winds, with the Lahm Cup as the prize for surpassing the previous distances.

Washington, Oct. 28. Governor Charles E. Hughes emerges as the last option for a coalition seeking to block Taft for the Republican nomination. Reports indicate the coming convention contest will pit Hughes against Taft, or there will be no contest at all. Hughes has courted reform while navigating clashes with powerful bosses, risking a persona of the people to appeal to plutocrats as push for nomination intensifies.
The Farmers Institute sponsored a corn contest with prizes for ten ear groups across Hildreth Kansas Sunflower and McAuley counties plus Silver Mine. Top awards went to Louis Eastman Virgil Lee Clarence Soward William Warren Eldridge Liggett Abner Henley Herbert Henley and John Smith. A separate 3 cash prize for best overall showing went to John Smith of Eudora with Abner Henley taking the runner up. The event drew strong interest and organizers plan to repeat next year.
