UAW Tentatively Accepts Ford Contract After Walkout Threat
The United Auto Workers reached a tentative three year deal with Ford Motor Co averting a 10 am walkout by 185000 workers. Details were not released but sources cite retirement after 25 years with full benefits for 9000 foundry workers and similarities to Chrysler terms. Ford executives say the package is tidier than Chrysler and negotiations continue with remaining local units.
