Republicans Form County Ticket Pledge Meeting

A large gathering at the Court House adopted a pledge to support the Douglas county Republican ticket. Oliver Barber chaired the meeting with E A Fisher and Thacher as secretaries. A Bohemian man named Frank Jipslak was found near Mud Creek bridge last Thursday night with head and shoulders on the bank and his body in the water. He was barely alive when discovered. Mr. A. Thomas took him home, warmed him, and brought him to the city yesterday, turning him over to authorities. Officer Rheinschild, though limited by language, obtained the man s account of events.

Stranded New Yorker Narrowly Survives in Kansas

A New York cigar maker, about thirty five, traveling with two suits and funds, was robbed of his satchel near Kansas City. Penniless and unable to speak English, he wandered until Mud Creek. He nearly died from starvation and exposure before Dr. Fuller treated his feet and he was taken to the poor farm.
