KU suspends Guth not returning this year professor statement
Kansas University will not have lecturer David Guth in the classroom this year though his administrative leave ends today and he can teach in fall 2014. Guth apologized after a social media post about the NRA sparked protests. Provost Vitter and Chancellor Gray-Little approved the committee’s recommendation following a full faculty staff review.

Remembering Jerry Claypool the man nicknamed Squeak
Jerry D. Claypool, 51, known by friends as Squeak, was killed when struck by a train near Burcham Park. A Lawrence resident for about three years, he had recently found stability after decades of hardship and housing through The Salvation Army’s Project Able. His son Terry recalls the nickname’s origin remains a mystery.
