Regents claim backed two women support bias charge

Christine Crenshaw, a Kansas Board of Regents employee, alleges workplace discrimination due to her sex. Two former women colleagues corroborate her view, noting a pervasive pattern. Doctors say insurance deception sometimes justified

A survey of 169 internists in eight cities finds 58 percent deem it ethical to lie for a patient needing a heart bypass and 48 percent for dying cancer patients to obtain pain relief and nutrition. About 3 percent would justify a cosmetic nose job for medical reasons. Most physicians see advocacy for patients as their core duty.
