Nazi planes pressed a deadly daylight raid on London after a heavy night attack. Fire bombs exploded over crowded streets as 50 plane formations and sustained gunfire pounded buses, streetcars, shops, and shelters. RAF fought back fending off raiders while casualties mounted and traffic slowly resumed later.

Mrs Barton Wade riding near her Wallowa Oregon home was attacked by a golden eagle. She sustained serious cuts and was hospitalized after the bird swooped and fought back, breaking one wing. The enraged eagle was later shot and measured six feet across its wings.
The Vinland Grange will hold a Halloween party at the Grange hall on Monday night October 28. Patrons should bring pies or doughnuts and cups for their families and guests. Attendees are encouraged to come masked.
Two hundred eighty one debaters coaches and sponsors from 33 Kansas schools gathered at the University of Kansas for a two day debate institute and assembly.
