Douglas County leaders plan a new coalition to coordinate first responders and care providers. A recent work session outlined changes to the behavioral health crisis system to ease collaboration and ensure timely access to appropriate care.
Local agencies in Lawrence will allocate 254000 from an opioid settlement over two years to four projects. These include a second Narcan vending machine, expanded Recovery Coach program, funding for the Homeless Resource Center, and weekly mental health support for first responders.
The Lawrence-Douglas County planning office documents a major construction landfill and borrow site at 1433 East 900 Road just north of Clinton State Park entrance. Crews will dig and backfill holes to supply dirt for two added lanes of the South Lawrence Trafficway, aiding the west Lawrence project.
