A U S case traced to a pneumococcus germ nearly totally resistant to penicillin. The five year old girl in Minneapolis developed a severe infection while on long term penicillin, highlighting high resistance and the need for surveillance and typing of pneumococcus infections. The CDC in Atlanta linked the strain to Streptococcus pneumoniae and noted its distinction from South Africa cases.
City Manager Buford Watson has been made a full member of the International City Management Association Academy for Professional Development. He will receive a membership certificate at the IMCA convention in Atlanta as part of completing a five year professional development plan through seminars conferences and publication in Public Management.
George Osborne, city parks chief, says red and yellow mums bloom along the Watkins Community Museum and will last until the first hard frost.
