Historic St Luke AME Church reopens after restoration

Girl raises funds to buy Halloween costumes for CASA kids
Twelve year old Elizabeth Patton raised 200 since August through babysitting and bake sales to help 16 children in the Douglas County Court Appointed Special Advocates program buy costumes. Revised KU fight song introduced after 50 years
Kansas University updated its fight song for Big 12 foes replacing references to Colorado and Nebraska with all conference opponents. The KU Alumni Association ran a contest won by Matt Schoenfeld of Countryside. A Baylor alumnus and longtime Jayhawk fan, he drafted lyrics with his 10-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son, counting syllables at home.

EPA issues MagnaGro complaint and orders compliance
The U S Environmental Protection Agency filed a civil complaint and compliance order against MagnaGro for failing to disclose on site hazardous wastes. After Lawrence city officials deemed the site unfit for occupancy, two men died from fumes in April during a mixing operation. The EPA inspected the facility and found suspected solid and hazardous wastes. owner Ray Sawyer has not answered EPA requests for information.
