The Kiowa flag song will be sung by Haskell Indian Junior College Club during pregame ceremonies for Haskell homecoming against Dodge City Junior College. The event starts at 7 p.m. with the game at 7:30 p.m. and features a halftime queen crowning moved to later.
A Kansas City man, son of a physician, left banking to run a motel and guide service in northwest Wyoming. He and a partner now operate hunts for elk deer and moose with a growing lodge, hiring top guides and working long days to ensure repeat business. He plans no return to banking and believes the region will grow.
The Kansas Supreme Court will hear District Judge Herbert Rohleder's defense Tuesday at 9 30 am in Topeka. Rohleder issued a temporary restraining order blocking a state inquisition into alleged gambling in Great Bend after raids on seven clubs. The attorney general seeks to set aside the order. the hearing is open to media and the public.
Seth Irving, administrative officer at Haskell Indian Junior College, was named Fan of the Year by students at a campus bonfire rally Friday night. About 800 students attended as Dodge City was burned in effigy and a 49 social followed. The upcoming homecoming game features Haskell versus Dodge City Junior College tonight at the school stadium.
Joseph H. DeShazer of 441 Ohio was treated and released at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a car motorcycle collision at 12 56 pm Friday at Ninth and Iowa. The southbound motorcycle collided with a car driven by John S. Detever 22 of 248 Stouffer Pl as the northbound car tried a left turn. Police report damage values 215 for the car and 370 for the motorcycle.

Douglas County District Court is asked to issue an injunction to label The Gaslight at 1241 Oread a public nuisance due to unlawful narcotics activity during June to September 1971. Officials cited past drug raids linked to the tavern, as manager Harold Stagg and lessee Reginald Scarbrough declined comment.
William R. Hale, state architect since 1967, announced his resignation effective immediately. He said he plans to return to private architectural practice after years serving under the current administration.

Attendants Jim Irick John Tual Julie Davis and Nancy Hey are Baldwin seniors. The dance theme was Superstar with festivities including a pep rally snake dance bonfire and hall decorating contests.
Two new sculptures join the Kansas University Museum of Art lineup. Frederick Eversley’s Pale Lens, a 20 inch acrylic cast work, was purchased, and Linda Benglis donated an untitled poured polyurethane piece. Benglis’s sculpture rises about 50 feet with a phosphorescent finish in a black booth. Eversley, 30, New York native, studied at Carnegie Tech and Institute Allende. His work is in the Smithsonian and Whitney collections. Benglis, 30, a Louisiana native, favors pigment latex in layered blobs to free color from the canvas and explore organic form with synthetic materials.
DeSoto High honored Vickie Rush daughter of Mr and Mrs Farr ell Rush as homecoming queen during the game against Tonganoxie. The visitors defeated DeSoto 30 to 0. Attendants Shirley Coffman and Deborah Holsinger, both DeSoto residents, stood with Miss Rush.
In Washington AP report, within minutes of Nixon announcing Powell and Rehnquist, White House aides surveyed lawyers nationwide for opinions with a 9:00 p.m. CDT deadline. Senator Birch Bayh welcomed scrutiny of Rehnquist and praised Powell's intellect and dedication amid the nominee debate.
Oklahoma Senator Henry Bellmon attended a gathering of the United Indian Tribes of Western Oklahoma and Kansas at Haskell Indian Junior College. Delegates numbered 50 to 75 and included last minute absences by Senator James Pearson and BIA Commissioner Louis Bruce. Ralph Simon of Horton was slated to be named Indian Businessman of the Year.
