London October 23 reports novelist George Moredith slipped on a sidewalk and broke one of his shin bones. He received immediate medical attention and is described as resting with a leg in a cast.

Jerry Simpson Died in Wichita After Prolonged Illness

Former Kansas congressman Jerry Simpson died at 6.06 am in Wichita Hospital after a month in care due to aneurism. Family was at his bedside as he remained conscious until minutes before death. A colorful populist figure, he served in multiple terms and was famed for sharp wit and outspoken style.

Topeka October 23 The state equal suffragists hold their annual convention in Lawrence. The association grew from about 400 members to 674. Riggin Woman Held in Murder Case
