A distribution cable fault that disabled about 300 Lawrence telephones last Thursday was located and repaired by a Southwestern Bell crew. Work continues to replace a 600-pair cable under the alley between Massachusetts and Vermont Streets with a 900-pair line. During splicing, each telephone line must be matched to its corresponding pair, causing temporary outages. Repairs are done using manholes at Ninth Street and a half block west of Massachusetts.

Roy H. Murray aged 63 and brother of J W Murray of the Journal-World staff died after a long illness in Herington Kansas. He was a farmer in the Hope Woodbine area and survived by five children. His wife died in October 1950. Funeral services were to be held at Wuthnow Funeral Home in Hope at 2 p m Tuesday afternoon.
