William R. Myers former sergeant of the sanitary detachment 137th Infantry Thirty fifth division from Lawrence Kansas earned the Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism near Baulay France on September 28 1918. He was wounded in the shoulder on September 26 yet, under heavy fire, he administered first aid to the wounded before being wounded again by a shell fragment. Capt John Shreve will present the decoration.
King Alexander was reported resting easily in Athens with a temperature of 102 F after an alleged assassination plot. Paris doctor Georges Fernand Vital said injuries came from a plot and linked a monkey bite to rabies in a tactical incident.
Arrangements are satisfactory for rummage and food sales to aid girls cooperative rooming houses at the University. In Tonden Kansas during October, the new venire of forty veniremen was largely dismayed as jury selection progressed. Court officials expected another venire to be drawn before a full panel could be formed. The state held two peremptory challenges, the defense also had challenges, as attorneys hoped a complete jury by tomorrow night.
