New Lawrence police chief greets residents at meet and greet
Gregory Burns Jr. greeted residents at a public meet and greet at a Lawrence McDonald’s, praising community engagement. The event followed arrests of three suspects in a downtown triple homicide and a peaceful end to a Monday night armed standoff near 27th Street and Haskell Avenue. Burns cited two core duties: arresting criminals and building community relations. He noted his Louisville background and arrival in Lawrence on Oct 1, sworn in the next day.
