Judge ousts Prairie Village councilman over friend in City Hall
Prairie Village Kansas City official David Morrison is ordered to resign after a civil trial found his actions in letting a homeless friend stay in City Hall amounted to willful misconduct and breach of ethics. The judge cited breathtakingly bad judgment. Morrison admitted taking Kelley Malone to the employee lounge, giving him the City Hall passcode, and keeping it private. Malone, with a history of drug use, feared for his life and Morrison believed City Hall was the safest place. City workers later found Malone in the lounge, triggering the probe and removal. Morrison’s lawyers defended it as a humanitarian act.
