KU names economics program after Charles Oswald gift
A $6 million Oswald donation renames KU's undergraduate economics program and funds two professorships. $2 million creates the Oswald Opportunities in Economics Fund for fellowships and scholarships, $4 million endows microeconomics and macroeconomics chairs with William Barnett named for the macro chair. The Kansas Partnership for Faculty of Distinction will match interest. The gift totals plus a $1 million endowed professorship earlier and $3 million in unrestricted funds, with KU aiming for a larger campaign total of $500 million.

Parking scam leaves couple’s van towed after NCAA game
A Lawrence couple paid $9 for a $20 parking space behind 945 Ala and found their van missing when they returned. The space seller did not own the property, and the van was towed to A&M Towing for $105. Police say private-property tows rely on contracts and rotating tow services, and advise caution to avoid similar losses. Dudley plans to file a theft by deception report, and hopes others don’t fall victim.
