Planners to study rezoning bids near Clinton Reservoir

Lawrence Douglas County planners consider two rezoning requests on Wednesday. Yankee Tank Inc seeks 43 acres east of County Road 54 for general business B-2 near the Corps of Engineers property by Clinton Reservoir. The second proposal by Alvamar developers reroutes 12 acres at Dragstrip Road and 23rd Street to B-2, just south of the planned water plant but outside city limits.

Missing Coed Ann Harmeier Confirmed Dead

The body of Indiana University coed Ann Louise Harmeier was positively identified by dental records in Martinsville Indiana. Authorities say she likely died from strangulation after disappearing September 12 while driving to Bloomington. Her car was found along a state highway near Cambridge City.

Clinton Dam Water Impoundment Expected Within 30 Days

U S Army Corps of Engineers officials announced that Heard in Water will be impounded within the next 30 days. Gate closure at Clinton Dam likely to extend into November, not meeting the October deadline set by Col Richard Curl. A gate closing ceremony is planned with date details to follow.
