Walsh said they had been subpoenaed to testify before the Select Committee on Improper Activities in Labor-Management Relations.

Judge Hugh Means’ Brother James W Means Dies in California
James W Means 82 brother of Judge Hugh Means died Monday at his San Mateo California home after a long illness. He was born in Douglas County in 1877 to James and his wife. The family homestead later became part of the 4 H Fairgrounds and a rock house still serves as a lounge there. He moved to Colorado as a young man then to San Mateo about 40 years ago where he worked in grain brokerage. His wife Laura Poehler of Lawrence died in 1957 and a daughter died earlier. He is survived by a granddaughter Adrienne Mitchell Hillsboro California. Funeral services will be in San Mateo with cremation and ashes brought to Lawrence for Oak Hill Cemetery burial.
