In Albion Nebraska on October 20 a 12 year old shot his playmate while out hunting. The Long boy ordered the other to raise his hands. Believing the gun unloaded he pulled the trigger and the bullet struck the boy in the forehead, causing death within an hour.
Burlington Kansas October 20. R. 3 Slatter charged with forgery escaped from the jail last night by walking out of the building in a deliberate manner.
A gold chatelaine containing a watch and jewelry valued over 810,000 was taken last night from Mrs. S. F. Nave of St. Joseph Missouri at the Baltimore hotel during a party after a horse show. Lloyd Smith, a colored man present, was arrested and the stolen property recovered as authorities traced the disappearance. General Miles and General Alger moved through the region with other updates from the era.
London Ont May 26 Canadian members withdrew from the Alaska boundary commission after refusing to sign the award. They denounced the line as harmful to Canada, while New maps were agreed on by the majority. The Portland Canal defense and access routes favored the United States, prompting Prime Minister Laurier and other officials to protest in Ottawa. The decision shifts key passages and marks a major shift in Arctic boundary politics between Canada and the United States. The public meeting was canceled by Lord Chief Justice Alverstone amid the deadlock.
Advices from Mazatlan, Mexico report a terrific storm causing sixteen deaths in the city and many Injuries. Ships suffered heavy damage including the brig schooner Clara which was wrecked and its captain and fourteen sailors drafted.
Robbers blew up the Pleasant Dale bank nine miles west of Lincoln at an early hour. The building was wrecked and the vault shattered, but the money was found in the debris. Authorities believe the robbers are still nearby and pursuing them.

The steamship South Portland from Astoria to San Francisco wrecked at Bandon on the Oregon coast. Thirty one passengers and crew missing. captain and six others reached shore. The vessel, 185 feet, formerly Caroline Nuher, sailed Oct 1 from Astoria with grain cargo under Captain Melnoure. A fog and rough seas hinder rescue. two lifeboats capsized and several people drowned. A rescue tug was dispatched from Marshfield.
Kalindis City witnesses claim Crescens shaved a quarter of a seared tar trottling short of the mark as Mitny caught time. C. Tewin, Southern Fair president, denies the accusation while Erwin cites a taller stretch and a seven tone over distance to avoid a turn. Crescous was shipped to Oklahoma City this morning.

Isidore Labarriere and others were evacuated with belongings lost. Water pressure failed due to a burst pipe, delaying suppression and allowing widespread damage despite repairs begun around 4 am.
Sixteen river steamers fight drifting ice in the Yukon with the risk of being crushed if the river does not clear in coming days. Three White Pass and Yukon lines boats carry ten passengers each and struggle through ice, potentially forcing passengers to walk hundreds of miles. Mails and large gold shipments are aboard these vessels as the situation grows more perilous.
