Osage Leader to Head Haskell Pow Wow Barbecue
Louis Bighorse Osage of Pawhuska Oklahoma will return as chief of the Indian village and oversee the barbecue at Haskell Institute’s second annual Pow Wow in Lawrence on November 11 and 12. Topeka oct 19 a clash between police and water departments escalated after L H Riggins a water department employee was arrested for running a stop signal. Water commissioner Tillotson tried to sign his subordinate’s release but the desk sergeant demanded a property statement. In retaliation Tillotson cut off water to the police station, causing thirst among officers. Riggins was fined $35 and Tillotson announced a water meter at the police station with the police paying for water used.
