West German mark revalued against linked European currencies
The West German mark rose by a twentieth of a cent after a revaluation of the seven currencies in the European exchange rate system the snake. The dollar fell to 2.44 marks and to 40.98 cents per mark as trading paused awaiting officials and a news conference.

Two Men Arrested After Tire Theft at Local Ford Lot
Lawrence police arrested Edward J. Walaszek Jr. and Duane G. Albert on grand larceny charges after they were seen stripping tires from a Fiat in the John Haddock Ford Inc. lot. Surveillance followed the 2 a.m. sighting and a later detachment led to arrests on $3,000 bond. Loss estimated at $120.
