University faculty approves summer degrees and new courses
The University of Kansas college faculty met yesterday afternoon to grant degrees for students completing the 6 week summer session and to approve the upcoming 16 week summer term and fall 6 week term graduations. They also approved a new applied vertebrate zoology course and increased freshman and sophomore credit hours in the School of Religion from 3 to 6, with a 25 hour limit in the college. The curriculum committee urged a mandatory fundamental biology course for all freshmen, combining zoology entomology botany and physiology with a lab in one, and discussed shifting toward more required courses. A teaching-research plan to publish abstract briefs of key education books and articles for library use was also noted.
