Salt Lake City reports a United Air Lines mainliner with 19 aboard seen in rugged southwestern Wyoming. Ground searchers reach the scene in hours to determine if anyone survived as inspectors note damage and possible fire.
Evanston Wyoming October 18 rancher Wesley Meyers who rode with Pilot Bob Bergesen described sighting wreckage from the airliner carrying 19 persons. Meyers said he did not see how anyone could be alive and noted the wreckage covered a wide area with no signs of life.
United Airlines Mainliner with 16 passengers and 3 crew vanished after Colorado to Utah leg. Searchers near Hayden's peak in Wasatch foothills report wreckage, rough terrain, and uncertain injuries as nightfall approaches.
William Axthelm of Neodesha was killed in a Saturday automobile crash seven miles north of Coffeyville on highway 169. Miss Hozel Davidson of Independence and T A Baker of Neodesha were injured in the skid that pulled the car from the road.

Joseph Elwood Shultz of Lawrence died of heart failure in his sleep Sunday night while serving with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Sumatra. Sedgwick county led by a wide margin with the largest total and Barton county had the highest per capita rate at 13.4 cents.
