Biologists To Take Head Count At Lawrence High
Lawrence High School biology club members will place 100 mousetraps south of town to census mammals including mice and shrews. Stan Roth, adviser, says 35 students will work in groups Friday night and monitor traps through Monday morning hoping to count 60 to 80 specimens if populations are high or eight to ten if low. Specimens will be studied and some skins prepared for anatomy lessons. The program, started six years ago as a Kansas State University census, aims to teach field technique and assist seasonal population estimates.

Lawrence police report thefts vandalism and assault incidents
Local lawmen logged four thefts two vandalism cases and one assault in Lawrence. Victims include Greg Roth who lost 120 dollars from a wallet, LeRoy Hadl who had tools valued at 100 stolen, and KU students reporting auto thefts recovered later or damaged windows and a purse theft.
