Treasury delays currency report before world meetings
The Obama administration will postpone the report on China’s currency manipulation until after upcoming world-leader meetings. It praises yuan appreciation since June 19 while launching an unrelated trade-policy probe cited by unions as aiding Chinese firms in clean energy markets. This diplomatic balance aims to signal toughness ahead of the November midterm elections without calling Beijing a manipulator.
