Baker to establish communications center on campus

George II Williams and his parents sue Lawrence District 497 and three teachers in Douglas County Court seeking 75000 for temporary and permanent disability pain and suffering and lost income plus 1569 for out of pocket expenses. Lawrence High School marching band of 267 members presented Ed Bartley a 120 gift certificate for uniforms before leaving for the Wichita State University Marching Festival. Mrs. George Learned noted Bartley often foots kids’ uniform costs, while the band gave thanks with a standing ovation. Larry Williams quipped Bartley must not miss his 11 o'clock Wichita appointment. Sabotage suspected as tear gas forces plant evacuation
Tear gas grenades exploded in a turbine room at the Jeffrey Energy Center near St Marys Kansas prompting about 600 construction workers to flee. Fragments of a military tear gas grenade were recovered on a turbine room floor and air samples suggested tear gas. Over 120 workers were hospitalized for tests with most released soon after. John Minicieli of Tulsa remained hospitalized in satisfactory condition.
