A brush fire burned within 100 yards of homes near Altadena as 3,200 acres burned along a four mile front in Angeles National Forest. Evacuations occurred for three families while 1,500 firefighters and 18 planes fought the blaze near Angeles Crest Highway. Injuries were not reported.

Bids are sought for three detention dams and 1.13 miles of channel work in the Thompsonville Watershed District Jefferson County.
