Pierre Laval was executed at Fresnes prison for treason after resisting a muffled attempt with poison. He faced a 12 man firing squad without a blindfold, cried Vive la France, and died at 12:82 p m after an officer fired a coup de grace. His death follows his Vichy leadership and trial with Marshal Petain and Joseph Darnand.

War indictments delayed by three days
