Three Lawrence doctors die in Palos Hills crash

Three Lawrence residents and physicians Tausif Rehman Ali Kandiwala and Maria Javaid were killed when their Beechcraft Baron crashed after takeoff from Chicago Midway Airport near Palos Hills Illinois. Rehman and Kandiwala practiced at Stormont Vail HealthCare while Javaid worked at Providence Medical Center.

Downtown traffic may close more of New Hampshire Street

Lawrence city commissioners consider closing 800 block of New Hampshire Street for a new multistory apartment and office building at Ninth and New Hampshire.
