Borger Tex Oct 14 AP martial law in Hutchinson county to be lifted Wednesday or Thursday after Sheriff Joe Ownbey and Mayor Glenn Pace resign. Brig Gen Jacob Wolters said county commissioners will appoint a successor and city commissioners a new mayor who is to be chosen by them. He noted all appointments by him would be ousted with Ownbey’s resignation and that officials face a broad criminal inquiry following the slaving probe. Parole eligibility for three Douglas county prisoners
Three state prisoners from Douglas county districts are eligible for parole from the Lansing penitentiary after serving their terms. Bee Fishback convicted January 22, 1928 for grand larceny. Byron Riley convicted December 26, 1928 of third degree forgery. Milton Snyder convicted May 5, 1927 of forgery third degree. White Headed Blackbird Captured in Lawrence
