The Douglas County Farm Bureau will receive a special state award at the Kansas Farm Bureau annual meeting in Topeka for exceeding its 1959 membership and for reaching the AFBF quota. County family memberships rose from 880 to 929, with the goal set at 917. Co chairmen C. E. Banning and spouse led the drive. L G Carter 71 former Lawrence resident died Tuesday in Lafayette California where funeral services and cremation were held. Surviving are widow Mrs Carter two daughters Mrs Crawford and Mrs Perkins a son C B Carter a brother and nine grandchildren. David Thomas Ford infant son of Mr and Mrs Robert Ford of Kansas City Kansas had graveside services at St Peter's Cemetery in Big Springs with Rt Rev Msgr George Towle in charge. Local arrangements were handled by Rumsey Funeral Home with extended family listed.
