Police Court Rushes Through Minor Cases

In police court this morning a rush of cases appeared before the police judge. John Doe was fined 15.40 for indecent conduct. A Mexican uncooperative subject was charged with drunkenness and fined 6.50, unable to pay and committed to jail. Fred Albro faced disturbing the peace over a prescription demand, and Han Woods was found guilty of drunkenness and fined 6.50.

Charts to be shown at Lawrence social survey exhibit

Two Horses Burned In Second Fire At Mill And Homes

Fire Threatens the Howerlock Mill Conflagration

Fire broke out at a stone shop near the paper mill on Sixth Street at 3 30 PM Sunday causing about 340000 in damage. Insufficient water pressure hampered efforts as hoses from Massachusetts and Seventh Street fought the blaze before it overwhelmed the building. The adjacent grain elevator burst through its roof in a shower of debris, while insulation and electric wires were burned leaving thousands endangered. The fire was not controlled until after six, with two water streams kept on smoldering ruins overnight. About 20000 of stock and 0 up to 20000 worth of stock were stored in the building, which was set to be reinforced with concrete blocks this week to become a fireproof structure. The outage plunged Lawrence into darkness for hours with lights restored by 8 PM.
