Brave boat crew saves lives after Anchoria drifted
The steamship Anchoria, bound for New York, lost its shaft off Iceland on Sept. 22. After fourteen days adrift near Newfoundland, a first officer and seven men rowed eighty miles to shore for help. Two deaths and two births occurred on board before tugs and the Red Cross steamer Muranda reached the disabled vessel at St. Johns.
