Lawrence library expansion on November ballot plan

Lawrence voters face an 18 million library expansion funded by 1.5 mills for 20 years and 0.5 mill for operations. The project adds 20,000 square feet to about 66,500, a parking garage with 250 spaces, redesigned entry and drive through book drop, and updated children and teen spaces. Officials say crowding, growth, and a rising need for programs justify funding despite tax concerns and a pending county and school tax increases.
