Nobel Prize honors new type of matter
Three U.S. researchers won the Nobel Prize in physics for creating a new state of matter a Bose Einstein condensate a near zero temperature gas. Eric A. Cornell Carl E. Wiemann and Wolfgang Ketterle shared the prize for work at NIST Boulder UC Boulder and MIT. The discoveries promise smaller faster electronics precise clocks and quantum computers. The award totals 943000 dollars with further prizes in medicine chemistry economics literature and peace set for the week in Oslo.
