Steer on the Lam Captured After City Chase
A 1200 pound steer eluded police in Lawrence, tailing a chase through streets and brambles. Officers from KU, Lawrence PD, and Douglas County Sheriff's Office coordinated a pursuit that ended when Jeff Smith restrained the animal with a rope and it was loaded onto a trailer near the Lindeman residence. Early efforts failed as the steer broke loose multiple times, narrowly avoiding traffic hazards.
