The Greater University Fund of Kansas University lists more than 11 000 alumni students and friends who gave during 1961 62. Total gifts to the KU Endowment Association reached 1 985 585 an increase of about 500 000 over the previous year. Gifts to the Fund and related programs totaled 359 862. The 11 000 contributors exceeded the 1960 61 record by 500 and helped KU win the 1962 Grand Award of 5 000 from the U S Steel Foundation for alumni support. In 1953 54 the fund began with about 1 000 contributors and 41 000 in gifts.

Church at Eudora Plans Ceremonies
A 9 a.m. Thursday groundbreaking will start a new school and temporary church for Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora at 8th and Birch. Father John Quigley will lift the first dirt for a 114 by 60 foot building with four classrooms. The temporary church will seat 392, with future plans to use the site as a cafeteria and social hall after the new church is built. Completion is set for the summer. The existing 1864 school and church will remain.

WARSAW AP Twenty eight persons died and at least 62 were injured when a derailed express train was rammed by the Moscow Vienna Rome Express. Officials warned the toll may rise as passengers remain unaccounted. The crash occurred at Moszczenica about 80 miles south of Warsaw.

Pedestrian Injured by Falling Glass Near St and Mass
A woman, Elouise Evans of 131 Pawnee St., was struck on the head by a falling glass fragment near St and Mass streets shortly after 1 p.m. She was admitted to Lawrence Memorial Hospital in satisfactory condition for observation after emergency treatment. The glass source, from the Weavers or Drakes Bakery building, was not immediately determined. She had no cuts and only minor injuries from the blow. Evans, employed at Weavers, was taken to hospital by ambulance.
