Ad Astra statue tops Statehouse dome in historic lift
The Ad Astra statue depicting an Indian with an arrow to the North Star was hoisted onto the Statehouse dome after a statewide tour. Spectators watched from rooftops and ground as Governor Graves and artist Richard Bergen marked the moment. A private fundraising effort funds the nearly 1 million dollar project. An Indian blessing ceremony blessed the statue amid debate over dome reinforcement costs.
