Pleasant Valley Community Celebrates Fifty Fifth Anniversary
A large gathering at A L Holcom’s grove marked his and Mrs Holcom’s fifty fifth wedding anniversary. Guests enjoyed a noon dinner and a program with readings, songs, solos, and piano pieces led by Dr. A R Kennedy. The day recalled early life of settlers and closed with “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.” The first PTA meeting followed, featuring singing, readings, impersonations, and a health talk, with refreshments served by local hosts.

First month of school closed with enrollment of 18 in the two grades and total attendance 86234 with one absence and two tardies. 56 books were added to the library. All grades join a spelling contest. a prize will be awarded at end of first semester for best perfect score. Perfect scores listed: Billy Gwinn and Doris Landis in second grade. Enid Illian and Norman Lynch in eighth grade. One morning weekly, all grades have a free art period. strong pictures noted this week with Lester Hadl singled out. The sand table now features a fish pond and rock garden. Pupils lead morning exercise. Enid Yan will give the first program Wednesday morning.
