Oklahoma City braces for a battle royal between Gov. J. C. Walton and a legislative bloc. The impeachment session set for October 17 promises parliamentary fights, with anti-Klan legislation likely but officials predicting broader investigations and a months long process.

Topeka Oct 8 Ninety thousand bushels of seed wheat have been distributed to date by the Central Lead Wheat Association to southwestern Kansas farmers for sowing this fall. The majority already sown and emerging, with favorable conditions allowing seeding to continue until November 1. More than $125,000 has been raised toward the association’s $300,000 wheat fund, mainly from Wichita business men and Kansas City backers.
Negotiations between German industrial groups and Franco-Belgian authorities aim to restart Ruhr work and deliveries in kind. Three groups have attended talks in Duesseldorf as Britain and Allied reparations authorities await the outcome. An Essen report says railroad workers face expulsion if they do not resume work, affecting more than 30,000 people.

In Bethnal Green a stampede at a pet market left dozens injured as thieves allegedly raided the stalls. Crowds fled when cries of quake rang out, animals were trampled and property destroyed. The Daily Mail reports about 60 injured and thousands of small animals killed or escaped.
Jefferson City reports the state highway commission will meet in Kansas City to decide on bids submitted September 28 for a cement plant to supply highway needs for five years. Bids for furnishing cement in large quantities will also be considered.
Early today, two to three armed men held up the Ritz Carlton New York night manager and several employees in the lobby, stealing about 4000 dollars in gems. Charlie Chaplin arrived minutes after the raid and aided officers as staff recovered scattered jewels from the lobby and the revolving doors.
A rear-end collision involving multiple trains near Oak Park, Chicago, injured ten people who were rushed to Oak Park Hospital. The limited train struck a standing train and a second crash occurred involving another two-car train and a three-car train.

Quotations had been rising after a prolonged slump, with 95 cents on Saturday and earlier highs near $1.07 last May. Estimates vary on how much of the crop remains with farmers, from 50 percent to as high as 70 percent.

Topeka reports Secretary of State Frank J. Ryan planned to prosecute Frank Rockefeller, wealthy cousin of John D. Rockefeller, for failing to obtain a Kansas automobile license. Rockefeller allegedly consented to buy a license after an arrest warrant was issued, but Ryan says the case will be prosecuted.
Tonight marks the opening of the University concert course with tenor Chamlee appearing at 8:20 p.m. in Robinson Gym. Dean Swarthout reports strong ticket sales and a large crowd expected. Chamlee arrived from New York City with pianist Powell Weaver replacing the original accompanist.
The state supreme court affirmed a 120 day jail term and 400 dollar total fines for Harry Kane for liquor possession and sale of intoxicating cherry extract in March 1922. It also upheld a 100 dollar fine and 30 dollar bond in a nuisance case against A A Harper over a North Lawrence feed lot. A Lawson v Brokman judgment awarding 17 dollars to Lawson was also affirmed.
The Douglas County Livestock Improvement Association announces a second purebred hog sale tomorrow afternoon at Woodland Park. Hogs offered are from registered stock only, selected by the county stock committee, following last spring’s successful projectors sale at the same park. Ford sedan stolen in Leavenworth reported. police note no four door Ford was taken.
Elmer Scott, state fire official, will discuss fire prevention at a Chamber of Commerce dinner at 6:30 pm. Tomorrow marks the Chicago fire anniversary. Lawrence fire department plans a demonstration at the Heke building at Tenth and Massachusetts around 8:15 pm, including a rooftop illumination and aerial ladder rescue display. First prize of 10 dollars and second prize of 5 dollars will be awarded to schools with the highest home inspection blank completion rates.
Fort Scott Kansas October 8. An injunction suit filed by Attorney General C B Griffith seeks to stop the Ku Klux Klan from parading in masks in Fort Scott or Bourbon county. William Wood on behalf of Thomas Daly the local klan leader named as defendant agreed the klan will not parade in masks pending a full hearing. Judge Gates will hear arguments later but postponed after the agreement to allow thorough review.
Fraternity members plan to relocate to a newly built house on Louisiana Street near the Livina Kappa residence overlooking the Wakarusa valley. The Tay house features English architecture with hollow-tile and brick veneer and will accommodate 85 men.
Vera Daniels of Iowa and Orpha Paugh from Clay County high schools joined Lawrence High School today, increasing total enrollment. The move enlarges the student body as Lawrence expands its academic program and activities.
Mr and Mrs George Kuhne leave today for an overland trip to Chicago to visit Mrs Kuhnes brother Soxman for two weeks.
