Cancer survivor leads fitness class for patients
Jo Ellis, a Lawrence Parks and Recreation supervisor, has created a local fitness class for people who have had or are fighting cancer. The program emphasizes strength flexibility and posture while serving as a supportive group. Ellis fought cancer herself including a double mastectomy and reconstruction and has been cancer-free for 18 months. The class aims to help participants stay active during treatment or recovery and to address individual needs within a group setting.
