Libya seeks explanation for U S capture of al Qaeda figure Abu Anas al-Libi
Libyan officials demanded details after U S special forces seized Nazih Abdul-Hamed al-Ruqai known as Abu Anas al-Libi in Tripoli. The operation followed a firefight in Somalia and came as Libya criticized the raid as kidnapping while Washington touted a blow against al Qaeda. The 49 year old, on the FBI most wanted list with a $5 million bounty, faced past ties to the 1998 Nairobi and Dar es Salaam embassy attacks. His family denied he was an al Qaeda member and said he had lived in Libya since 2011.
