Sprint to Cut Jobs in Effort to Meet Rivals
Sprint Corp says it will cut an unspecified number of jobs this month to reduce costs and better compete with AT&T and Verizon. The layoffs target IT, portfolio management, network and technology divisions, with a $160 million charge booked in the fiscal second quarter. Overland Park based Sprint, owned by SoftBank since last year, has posted multiyear losses as customers leave and its Nextel unit shut down.
