The Lawrence City Commission agenda for Tuesday at 6 35 p m at City Hall Sixth and Massachusetts outlines a rezoning request for townhouse style rental units near United Way. Meeting documents are available online at lawrenceks org.
City commissioners will review a rezoning proposal for vacant ground near the United Way headquarters at 2518 Ridge Court. The change would permit a town house style rental development by Tenants to Homeowners, a Lawrence based nonprofit.
Tenants to Homeowners plans a 14 unit rent controlled senior living complex on a two acre parcel behind the United Way in south Lawrence. Neighbors oppose the project and have filed a protest petition that requires four votes on the City Commission to advance, instead of the usual three. Concerns include stormwater drainage and the conversion of single family homes into rental units in the area.
The proclamation marks LiveWell Week October 13 through 19 2013 and Meet the Blind Month along with White Cane Safety Day. City Commission minutes from recent meetings are approved along with numerous bids changes and contracts. Several ordinances and rezonings are advanced including annexation and zoning for multiple parcels and a 43 unit 9 Del Lofts project. Various permits grants and public works items are scheduled with a bid date set for October 29 and a performance audit session noted.
